Emma qualified as a chiropractor in 1987, one of the youngest ever, from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and has been in Private Practice to date. She uses the McTimoney Technique and has taken post graduate training in Cranio Sacral Therapy, through the Upledger Institute along with NIP (neuro impulse protocol) with Dr Neil Davies and combines this seamlessly with the manipulation to deliver a comprehensive treatment to her patients. She has a Diploma in Diet and Nutrition and has taken a special interest in this field to the point that she is now a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine, which over the past 29 years she has combined with her structural work to further enhance her clientsʼ health and has created her own programme for all round health development. This she now recognizes is a vital part of her treatment plan with each case. She has taught within the McTimoney College of Chiropractic to third and fourth year undergraduates as their clinical paediatric tutor as is still fascinated with the scope of the chiropractic health care system and its amazing effects in dealing with paediatric issues. She was also part of a research project run through the University of Southampton regarding Chiropractic and its efficacy in infantile colic. As well as seeing groups of Autistic children within a home setting. Within her clinics she is willing to see children from birth.
Along with these applications Emma has also understood the need of the human body to move and exercise correctly and has felt for a long time that the modes and methods of exercise and or rehabilitation for those, not only suffering from acute and chronic pain and inflammatory condition but also for general health, lacked any real value. After working within a gym situation personally and with referral of a growing number of her clients to specific personal trainers, she witnessed first hand the sheer healing force of functional human movement and positive nutrition.
She therefore went out to the United States and in 2009 came home with a level One Crossfit Instructors Certificate. ʻIʼve been astounded by the ability of the Functional Movement method of training to not only help promote strength and condition but also to alter the total vitality of the individual who attends the prescribed regime. Equally I recognized that ʻbody workʼ such a chiropractic were linked in that process as full human movement may sometimes be hampered by aberrant musculoskeletal and neurological patterns. Therefore she has designed Health Matters/Thrive programme to incorporate body work and Gym instruction along side Optimal Nutrition. At present Emma is training for and running 10k races off road, she skis when ever she can and has recently taken her first certificates in Sailing off shore as one day she intends to sail around the globe.
All this information can seem a to be nothing but a CV so Emma has decided to allow her patients to have their say on their experience of treatment with her. Below are accounts and testimonials from just a handful of patients or their carers/guardians/parents.
“I started seeing Emma in November for oesteoarthritis in my left hip. The pain was so severe I was taking painklllers and walking with two sticks. Through McTimoney treatment Emma helped to address the route cause and imbalances in the pelvis and lower back. I have had regular sessions, once per week and now once per fortnight and I am now no longer on pain medication or walking with a stick.
I highly recommend anyone with hip or joint pain to seek treatment and also follow a sensible excersie routine and diet – all of which Emma can advise and guide you on. I am very grateful to the help and support Emma has given throughout this process.”
“Emma has been a true blessing in my family’s life. Her treatment has ensured my son who has autism, remains grounded and calm. It’s prevented Sean having fits/seizures which can be common in young adults with autism.
Her constant support and amazing wisdom have held me up on many a sore day. I’m at a loss to put into words just how much hope Emma’s approach to autism has given us all.
Sean just adores Emma and her therapy. He practically runs to his session and moves into his therapy quickly. He’s never been so responsive to any therapy before, now he has a sixth sense and knows what is going to help him.
Brilliant just brilliant lady!”
“I was referred to Emma after a second serious back injury in 3 years. I was in chronic pain and taking an unhelpful amount of painkillers to get through the working day. I was extremely sceptical of what help could be provided given the amount of pain I was suffering from in every aspect of my life. Emma was able to instantly diagnose the issue and provide short term relief from the very first consultation.
Over the following weeks, under her expertise, I gradually moved away from chronic pain to moderate pain and then completely pain free. It was life changing. Emma’s ability to identify the causative factors of my pain and address them in a pain free, professional manner not only improved my physical well-being but also dramatically improved my state of mind as I was now confident that I was receiving the correct care and moving toward resolution with a care provider who was extremely knowledgeable and intent on resolving the root cause of my pain rather than merely addressing the symptoms.
Emma is an exceptional practitioner and I would have little hesitation in recommending her to anyone seeking relief from any type of back pain.”
“I attended various chiropractors/practitioners over many years without any success before I discovered Emma. These practitioners insisted on X Ray’s and then two or three visits per week and although seemed to help in the short term, the relief was short lived and I was back to square one. Within a couple of treatments Emma got to the root of my problem and to my delight told me there was no need to continue week in week out! I can now attend as and when I feel the need.
In addition, the cranial head massage is brilliant!“
“After suffering form leg pain and back pain over a period of a few months I was eventually signed off my work. My doctor informed me I would be off for 3-4 months. With what he thought to be a trapped sciatic nerve and prescribed me with a vast array of various pain killers, averaging 11 tablets a day. I then visited a total of 3 physios and an osteopath all to little or no avail. A friend then told me about Emma. After my first visit (where she hardly touched me!) she worked her magic and I had halved my tablet intake the very next day. By my 3rd visit I was completely off the painkillers and back to work, after a total of 2 months after my first GP visit.
I cannot recommend her enough, I’ve absolutely no idea how she does it. To be honest I think its witchcraft!“
